Why do people hate on Geminis so much?

Dear Friend of Geminis,
Your question is a valid one, and I’ve often pondered it myself. I, too, am a Friend of Geminis (FoG from now on) and I find the incessant memes about Geminis being the “worst sign” boring at best and cruel at their worst. I know that we’re all evolved humans who can take a joke and Geminis, especially, are good sports. Still, I think that most pop Gemini hate (in the form of memes and GIFs etc.) all too often relies on the trope of “crazy” Geminis whose dual nature gives way to a personality that is not to be trusted.
But that, my FoG, is a pretty simplistic view of dual natures. The truth is, many aspects of our natural world boast dualities. From electro-magnetic fields to fields of mushrooms where the poison grows just beside the cure. You turn a smooth rock over and there, underneath, is the crumbling dirt and the moss. A dual nature is in and of itself only indicative of a person who knows how to be both: the deep listener and the entertainer; the mayhem maker and the dutiful sweetheart. In Gemini, there exists an unlimited capacity for bothness, for multiplicity even, and that capacity is a beautiful gift.
Problem is, not everyone is comfortable with that much malleability, not everyone can rest between knowing and not knowing who someone is and how they will be with them on any given day. In truth, most people are changeable, and having dualities in one’s nature is not simply a Gemini thing. It’s just that Geminis inhabit their shiftiness so clearly, and they move between selves with such charm, that sometimes those of us who witness it are a bit startled—perhaps some people feel a bit tricked. When you are a FoG, you can admire Gemini’s social nature, their endless fount of information, their ability to befriend anyone anywhere—to find the rhythm in even the drollest music and dance along. But, when you’re a jealous person, an insecure person, a person who hasn’t really figured out how to be yourself, you might hold your anxieties up against those daring Geminis and blame them for not being consistent—for putting you on edge. You see, people hate on Geminis when they hate fun, new information, taking risks, and being silly.
Or, you know, maybe people just don’t like the fact that Geminis love to gossip and tend to lie.
Who knows why people hate?
