And in one tweet, Zendaya perfectly shuts down sexist remarks
Once again, our girl Zendaya has taken it upon herself to address offensive comments head on—and shut that business down.
This week, the actress, singer and former Disney star put the misogynistic Twitter feed, Manstagram, on blast after the account shamed YouTube makeup artist Shannon over a no makeup photo she shared:
The post reinforced ancient beauty standards about makeup and targeted a woman in the process. And Zendaya, who’s known to scour Twitter for this kind of vitriol, was not having it. So she offered some words of wisdom—and side-eye—for Mantagram:
Shortly after, Shannon tweeted her appreciation for the show of female solidarity all the way from New Zealand:
We can add this victory to Zendaya’s already long-running track record of standing up for those who are bullied, including herself. Earlier this year, the Internet rushed to her defense after E! host Giuliana Rancic insulted the entertainer’s Oscars red carpet look—which included styling her hair into rather lovely waist-length dreadlocks—saying she looked like she smelled of patchouli and weed. Not long after, Zendaya issued her own rebuttal, touching on the racism inherent in Rancic’s comments:
Once again, Zendaya is on point, and standing up for what she believes in with wit, bravery and the perfect amount of sass.
