Zendaya just opened up about her personal reasons for going vegetarian and we get it

Spiderman: Homecoming star Zendaya is a serious role model for young girls everywhere. Not only is she a great actress, she is incredibly outspoken on issues that are important to her. She never shies away from opening up and being true to herself. That’s why we are so grateful that she shared the real reason she went vegetarian. She recently took to her brand new app to explain the real reason she went vegetarian, and we’re happy to say that it is very her, and totally sweet.

Zendaya decided to become a vegetarian because she loves animals!

That is pretty much the most classic, adorable reason we can think of. Zendaya seems like a loving, kind person so we totally see why her love for furry friends fuels her vegetarianism!

A childhood trip with her dad forever changed her ideas about meat-eating after she asked about a slaughterhouse on the road. When he explained to her what it was she was totally horrified.

I thought it was awful, all those animals getting packed up in there waiting to be killed, she shared. “I couldn’t believe that’s how I’d been getting my meat!

After that experience, and viewing PETA’s the documentary Glass Walls she decided to go full on vegetarian.

That wasn’t to say it wasn’t an easy transition. The actress apparently literally had a dream about the sky raining hamburgers a few days after making the switch. She also admits she still misses her mom’s turkey burgers. But luckily, she says lots of different foods satisfy her cravings.

Her favorite fast food meat substitute? Grilled cheese with onions and extra spread from In N’ Out.

We think it’s so cool that Zendaya opened up about her decision to switch to the veggie lifestyle, struggles, weird dreams and all! It just goes to show she is seriously the best kind of role model for young women, because she’s so truthful and down-to-earth about her personal journey! Want to hear more from Zendaya?
