Zayn Malik’s song “Let Me” confirms something majorly sad about his relationship with Gigi Hadid

As far as celebrity couples go, we really did love Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid. The two seemed to have a genuine love for one another. Unfortunately, they called it quits in March 2018, each releasing break up statements on social media saying they still had a lot of respect for each other.

And now Zayn has revealed that his new song “Let Me” is about Gigi, and, sob.

The musician phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest to talk about the track and admitted that it was written back when their relationship was still solid. The song has steamy lyrics, including “Baby, let me be your man, So I can love you, And if you let me be your man, Then I’ll take care of you.” The chorus includes the lyric “For the rest of my life, for the rest of yours”… meaning that Zayn was serious.

"I was in love—and I think that's pretty evident," he said. "I was aspiring to be in love with someone for the rest of my life and the rest of theirs, as we all do. Things change and we move forward in life. Times change, but that's what I was thinking when I wrote it."

Here’s the full song, in case you haven’t heard it yet.

Even though we’re sure Zayn and Gigi are doing what’s best for them both, the backstory to the song is definitely making us slightly nostalgic. However, the musician seems to be in a good place.

"We go through experiences so we have memories and stories and things to write down and contemplate and think about," he continued. "You get to really put your experience into something. It should be remembered forever."

Zayne also said that more new music is definitely on the way. And we can’t wait!
