Zara Larsson’s new song is the perfect sassy back-to-school anthem about stealing your man

If Zara Larsson isn’t on your radar, she really, REALLY should be. The 18-year-old Swedish singer is set for world dominance, and has already had TWO songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100, the brilliant “Never Forget You,” featuring MNEK, and the summery “Lush Life.”

For the uninitiated among you, Zara won Sweden’s equivalent of America’s Got Talent back when she was just 10 years old. Since then, she’s gone on to become Sweden’s equivalent of Britney Spears, making hit record after hit record.

Likewise, she’s also heaps of fun online, too. Despite being so young, she’s playfully poked fun at this ridiculous sex myth, while making a point about protective sex.

Basically, Zara is the sort of modern day popstar that we need: honest, fun, and super talented.

That’s why we are actually obsessed with her latest single, “Ain’t My Fault.”

The track, which was released today (September 2nd), is another taste off of Zara’s upcoming international debut album (she released a collection in her home country, Sweden, which includes the brilliant “Rooftop”).

We love the #throwback school bell vibes – serving “…Baby One More Time” realness – and the horns are SO fun. In fact, it’s the sort of thing we could totally imagine Rihanna singing when she was younger.

However, the song has a secret message and it’s kinda naughty…

“I wrote a song together with MNEK,” she says about the song, “and the topic is me, talking to a girl about her man; I basically stole her man. It’s not my fault that I’m better than you, but, I’m better than you.”

Okay, we totally LOVE this F.U. attitude. Yeah, we don’t condone stealing other people’s boyfriends, but it’s certainly fun to listen to. Like Tove Lo, we think it’s kinda refreshing to have a woman in the music industry singing amazing pop songs about real things. There’s something to be said about a young person like Zara owning their confidence, even if that means going around stealing other people’s men (lol).

Zara Larsson’s album is due out soon, and “Ain’t My Fault” is available now. Watch Zara’s performance of “Lush Life” from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon below.
