Zachary Levi is getting the superhero treatment in DC’s “Shazam!”

We have some amazing, wonderful, delightful, and *super* news! Zachary Levi was cast in DC’s Shazam!, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And we’re pretty into… like, every part of that sentence.

Shazam! follows Billy Batson — who’s a kid, but a kid with the power to ~transform~ into a grown-up superhero when he says “Shazam!”

The word “Shazam!” isn’t just fun it say. In the DC universe, it’s an acronym for some gods and historical figures. Y’know, normal things teenagers exclaim. It stands for Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury…which is where Billy gets his specific powers from when he’s in hero mode.

As for the casting, Levi took to Instagram to express his gratitude…

"Honored and greatly humbled to be a part of the #dcuniverse by bringing the original Captain Marvel to life," Levi wrote. "I am beside myself with gratitude, not only for this opportunity, but also the incredible outpouring of love and support from so many of you out there in the world. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be in the gym for the rest of forever."

You probably recognize Zachary Levi, mostly because he’s adorable and hard to forget, but also from Chuck and Tangled.

We miss Chuck so dearly because it was so great. But we’re thrilled to see Zachary Levi getting another great role we’re sure we’ll also love.

Shazam! will be directed by David F. Sandberg, director of Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation. Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke are set to write the script. Between them they have some cool credits, like Goosebumps, Jack the Giant Slayer, and Earth to Echo.

Basically, we’re pretty excited about all of this, and can’t wait to see Zachary Levi join the DC pantheon of superheroes!
