This is how Zac Efron *really* feels about his “High School Musical” character
As human beings, we all have regrets. When we take the time to look back on our lives, there are always going to be those memories that make us cringe as we simultaneously try to block them out. Even celebrities like Zac Efron aren’t exempt from this form of embarrassment – especially since their mortifying moments could be out there for all to see.
Now, you may be asking yourself: What would the beautiful specimen that is Zac Efron possibly be embarrassed about? The shocking answer: High School Musical.
“I step back and look at myself and I still want to kick that guy’s ass sometimes,” stated Efron, when discussing his former self with Men’s Fitness. “Like, fuck that guy. He’s done some kind of cool things with some cool people—he did that one thing [Neighbors] that was funny—but, I mean, he’s still just that fucking kid from [High School Musical].“
Though Zac may feel this way about the person he used to be, that doesn’t mean that others feel the same. Specifically, Seth Rogen has some pretty sweet things to say about his Neighbors costar: “For sure, I assumed he’d be a guy I wouldn’t like very much. But he was very self-effacing and self-deprecating, and I remember really liking him. He won me over.“
Rogen then opened up about what Zac Efron is really like. Seth explained that he was surprised when he found out that Zac is both sympathetic and vulnerable. In turn, Rogen found himself sympathizing with Zac, which is something he didn’t expect based on how Zac looks (aka like a Greek statue).
As for us, while we love both Zac Efron and High School Musical, we can totally sympathize with Zac’s feelings. We’ve all been there.
