Zac Efron has a new movie and it looks ah-mazing
Ok, so, an epic movie is hitting theaters on August 28th. I’ll be honest. I’ve been anticipating We Are Your Friends for a while as I was lucky enough to read the script a while back. And yep, I was wowed.
Not only does this flick boast Zac Efron in a starring role (always a good thing), but it is writer/director Max Joseph’s first foray into big budget filmmaking. He’s mostly worked in television, on MTV’s Catfish (you know who we’re talking about, Nev’s bud). Max is also an editor, which is abundantly clear, even in the trailer.
What’s also exciting about this film is that it’s ZEfron in a pretty meaty role. Not that his work in High School Musical was anything less than perfect, but it’s definitely interesting to see him taking on a more dynamic part. This time, he plays Cole, a DJ who’s trying to figure out what he wants, what he must sacrifice to get it, and if those sacrifices are worth it.
With supporting performances by Jonny Weston, Emily Ratajkowski, Wes Bentley, and Shiloh Fernandez, We Are Your Friends should definitely be put on your summer watch list. Watch the epic trailer below and mark your calendars.
Bonus: It prominently features my alma mater, California State University, Northridge. Valley kids everywhere rejoice!
