Zac Efron’s grandpa has teen Zac Efron posters all over his walls, and we are living for this nostalgia

If you were a teenager in the days of High School Musical, chances are high that you had a crush on Zac Efron. And if you practically wallpapered your room in posters of Efron that you tore out of magazines like J-14 and Popstar, you’re not alone there, either. That’s not just because we, his formerly teenage fans, all made the same questionable decorating choice. Zac Efron’s grandpa did, too.

This week, Efron shared a video of his grandfather on Instagram in honor of his 91st birthday. In the sweet vid, the family is singing “Happy Birthday” to Efron’s grandpa (whom Zac calls “the original Efron” in his post). When you realize what’s behind him on the walls of his house, the video gets even better.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Grandpa Efron does, in fact, have the same posters of his grandson on his walls that we all had hanging in our rooms in the early 2000s, except Grandpa’s displaying them in a main room of his house—in 2019—including the shirtless ones.

This is proud grandfather behavior of the highest order, and it makes this newly minted 91-year-old super relatable to the rest of us who fell asleep dreaming of those posters in our younger years.

Aside from the posters, Efron’s caption about how much he loves his grandpa was darling, too.

“From the day I came into this world, [he] taught me everything: how to tell stories, ski, laugh, love, work hard, and appreciate the beautiful things in life: paying it forward, treat others as one would like others to treat oneself, and live every day to the fullest,” he wrote. “I’ve never seen anyone light up a room like you Grandpa. Thanks for being my idol, mentor, best friend, and the BEST SKIER in the family.”

Happy birthday to the original Efron. His home decor is making us want to pull our old posters out and dust them off for nostalgia’s sake.
