YouTube sensation Ingrid Nilsen comes out as gay in touching new video

The Internet has been a-buzz this afternoon, and it’s all because of YouTuber Ingrid Nilsen. Ingrid, also called as Miss Glamorazzi, is known for her beauty and fashion videos, as well as more personal videos that serve as heart-to-hearts with her viewers. Today’s video was no exception. The video “Something I Want You To Know (Coming Out),” announces something that has shocked many viewers, but for others confirmed something they’ve always wondered: Ingrid is gay.

Personally, I was one of those shocked viewers. Ingrid’s popularity mostly comes from her intimacy with her subscribers, which means we’ve been somewhat privy to her past relationships, which have all been with men. But, as Ingrid explains in her video, that’s something that she had been doing to suppress her sexuality for a looooong time. But now, she’s free. And we couldn’t be happier for her.

Her video is a whopping 20 minutes long, and, in it, Ingrid goes through the entire process of coming to terms with her sexuality. She always had crushes on girls when she was younger, but once she was old enough to feel societal pressures, she pushed all that away. After dating boys her entire life, she knew that she wasn’t fulfilled. She wasn’t able to fully give herself to the relationships because she wasn’t being true to herself.

Just thinking about the video gives me chills. The honesty and vulnerability that she brings to the screen is powerful, and I’m so grateful that it’s being received by a supportive and happy community. You go, Ingrid. As she says in the video description, “We all deserve our best chance.” We’re so excited to watch her grow!
