You’re going to freak out over the changes Apple is making to iMessage
Apple is making some major changes to iMessage that will most definitely alter the way your texts look. At the WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) today, Apple announced the changes that will be coming along with iOS 10. Not only is the company opening up Siri to third-party developers, iMessage will also soon be doing the same.
But what does that mean exactly? So much.
With the iOS 10 update coming this fall, there will be tons of new iMessage features. Some you may love, some you may hate. But the good news is, you won’t be forced into using the features you hate. It’s a free country, y’all.
Directly within iMessage, you’ll be able to easily open up the app drawer to interact with other people and different apps.
You’ll be able to do simple things like share GIFs without leaving iMessage, as well as more sophisticated things like paying friends through iMessage with an app like Square Pay or collaboratively ordering food from DoorDash. Thanks to thanks to a “group cart,” you’ll be able to split the bill with your friends.
Another new feature involves different effects you can place on your messages… kind of like Snapchat, but less Snapchatt-y. Like, if you want to shout or whisper a word, you can use the new bubble effect. For example, let’s say your friend texts, “Hey, want to come over and watch Game of Thrones and drink wine and eat so much candy?” Your response would likely be “YES!” But using the bubble effect, your “YES!” will be bigger than all the other words. Because GoT is worth shouting about.
Also, when you type a message and then switch over to the emoji keyboard, iOS 10 will recommend words it can replace with a certain emoji. You just tap on the highlighted words to replace them with the appropriate emoji. false
There’s also the Invisible Ink feature, which allows users to send a secret message that can only be seen when the recipient wipes the particles away to reveal the message. Kind of like opening a present, but with less paper cuts.
Digital Touch will be happening as well, which means you’ll be able to draw handwritten responses or even share your heartbeat — just like you can do with Apple Watch.
