You Can’t Fake Fashion

I am pretty sure all of us girls have walked the streets of New York or downtown L.A.’s Santee Alley and have been approached by a man repeating “Gucci, Gucci purse, 20 dollars!” I know for me, it’s hard to turn away and keep walking. I always want to stop and take a look at the “Gucci” purse JUST to make sure it isn’t exactly identical to the one in Gucci’s current line. I mean, if you can get one that resembles the purse you go gaga over in the store for literally 85% off, why not take a look?

Well, I’ll tell you why not. A year ago, I made a pact to myself that I would no longer travel into the depths of Santee Alley in search of a knock-off bag, because every time I fall into the salesperson’s persuasive speech I end up laughing and saying to myself, “You just can’t fake fashion… no matter how hard you try.” I’m sorry, but those purses are always horrible replicas of an amazing design and I just can’t handle how hard they are trying to pawn these cheap imitations off on unsuspecting, young fashionistas.

So, this year, with my birthday around the corner and a desperate longing for a real designer purse, I had the BEST idea. I remembered that back in September during New York Fashion Week, eBay announced 90 designers (YES, I said 90) were coming together to create one-of-a-kind bags for their third run with the You Can’t Fake Fashion campaign. I mean, eBay is a place where you can find exactly what you want, when you want it, usually for a third of the price… AND HELLO, the items are real! As soon as I remembered this program, I downloaded the eBay Fashion App and began my search. The eBay Fashion App is great for girls on the go, because we’re not always at home or at the office with our computers on hand.

If designers Rachel Zoe and Lauren Moffatt aren’t enough to get you interested, then what about Zac Posen, Marchesa, Prabal Gurung, and Ralph Lauren? As soon as I took one look at the purses, I melted in my chair and had to open my eBay Fashion App and make a bid. The purses aren’t just normal totes with “You Can’t Fake Fashion” written on them, they follow this year’s spring trends and have a unique appeal to each one for any style. I can’t decide which one I’m in love with more… the BCBG see-through white and gold tote or Rachel Roy’s elegant shoulder satchel. But I do know that with the eBay Fashion App I don’t have to miss the bid and can bid anywhere to make sure I get one of these bad boys. Bidding ends on March 25th, and each bag starts at only $100 (I’ll take the Prabal Gurung, for $150 please).

Also, the ‘You Can’t Fake Fashion’ tote for is available for $50 (limited supply only), so get yours today!
