YES: Showtime just renewed “Shameless” and we’re doing our happy dance

After last night’s season finale, you can now rest assured that you’ll get some answers about the Gallaghers’ future. Today, Showtime announced that Shameless will return for Season 8. The renewal comes after a very public salary renegotiation. Emmy Rossum, who plays Fiona Gallagher, demanded that she make as much money as William H. Macy, who plays her father. And it worked. We were so excited for Emmy’s equal pay victory. But now we’re even more excited, because the show will officially return.

Shameless has been one of Showtime’s key programs for a long time, so it’s awesome to see it continue its run.

This year, Shameless even aired two seasons in one calendar year, because Showtime had a programming gap that needed filling. Additionally, Shameless rakes in the award season accolades, which studios love. William H. Macy has been nominated for three Emmy Awards and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Male Performance in 2015.

This season of Shameless was the highest rated yet, which gives them another reason to keep it going.

The show consistently ranks in the top five cable dramas, which is pretty awesome. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, the show hits the top five in both viewers 18-49, and the coveted 18-34 age group. And we get it, because the show totally rocks.

Also, Season 7 showed big changes for Fiona, and we want to know what happens next.

Throughout the season, Fiona has been taking charge of her life. She now knows how to run a business, and we need to see where that leads.

We also know Emmy is excited to return to her show.
