Yara Shahidi is giving us major summer-to-fall fashion inspiration with her “InStyle” spread
How we love thee Yara, let us count the ways. If you weren’t already obsessed with Yara Shahidi as Zoey Johnson on Black-ish, and in the off chance she didn’t already secure a spot in your imaginary girl squad thanks to her activism on social media, we’d like to introduce you to Yara. She’s smart, cool, and has super covetable style.
Get ready to see even more of Harvard-bound Yara as she prepares to bring all the modern-day A Different World vibes in her very own spin-off College-ish. We have a feeling that the 17-year-old is fashion’s next It Girl. She showed off her colorful aesthetic for InStyle, and it’s all the summer inspo you need.
She chatted with the magazine about her personal style, saying,
"Wearing color gives you confidence. You have no choice but to own your space."
To ensure that anything she wears is on point, Yara performs what she calls “the robot test.”
"My style routine is actually simple. The one that I do that is present in every time I get ready for anything is the robot test in which I do the robot and make sure my dress or what I'm wearing isn't too tight, too short, or too uncomfortable. If you can do the robot in your outfit, you're fine."
Just when you thought layering was more of a fall and winter situation, Yara and fab stylist Kahlana Barfield turned out this button-down slip dress concoction.
Yara served up some fall vibes too, and had us seeing red (in a good way).
Check out Yara’s full spread in the August issue of InStyle, on stands now.
