Calling all Teen Gigglers: We want you to write for us!
Hey you (yes, you)!
Are you a teen who loves all things HelloGiggles and has been just dying for your chance to have your Giggle-rific voice heard? Well, get ready to freak out (in the best way): We are looking to add real teens (that’s you) to our contributor roster for our brand new, soon-to-launch Teen section! We’re looking for your hilarious and weird (and hilariously weird and weirdly hilarious) stories, ideas, illustrations and videos to grow our already-wonderful HelloGiggles community. You must be at least 14 years old to contribute to HelloGiggles Teen.
So what should you send us? Basically, anything that lights a fire under you, drives your passion and makes you want to write, create and share. Just like on the regular HelloGiggles site, we’re looking for personal essays and cultural criticism with a strong, unique angle that only you could bring to the story, articles with original reporting (you know, where you actually go out and talk to people like a capital J Journalist), short fiction, and illustrations.
What’s right for us: Newsy stories that celebrate people doing awesome things and being awesome to each other, that highlight creativity, friendships, love, dream jobs, positive body image, growing up, dealing with your parents/teachers/school/makeup/boys/girls/first jobs. Topical pieces that discuss great moments in pop culture, the trickiness of friendships, stories on obsessions, what it’s really like to be a teen, essays that explore tough times (whether it be the big crises, or the small “I just don’t like myself this morning” moments), stories that make us feel like we’re all in this together.
What’s not right for us: Snark, girl on girl crimes, takedown pieces, anything ‘mean girls’ at all.
Who we’re looking for:
- Funny, honest, smart, creative people with strong writing and grammar skills and the ability to engage people with their words.
- Writers who can make a commitment to contribute to HelloGiggles at least one time per month.
- Artists and illustrators who want to share their work with the HelloGiggles community.
- People who make us laugh really (like really) hard.
- Like-minded people who don’t take themselves too seriously
