The latest “A Wrinkle in Time” trailer is like a kaleidoscopic dream
The only thing currently standing between us and the theatrical release of A Wrinkle in Time is 27 days and a handful of hours. You know, not that we’re keeping close count. We’ve watched (and replayed) every Wrinkle in Time teaser, trailer, and featurette, and ogled at all the mystifying posters, and this latest TV spot is enough to make us want to immediately tesser ourselves to March 9th, because boy, it is quite a doozy. And trippy. And otherworldly. And feels like one cosmic, kaleidoscopic dream.
For those of you who haven’t been keeping up with all things A Wrinkle in Time, here’s what you should know: This Ava DuVernay-directed film is a reimagining of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel of the same name. It chronicles teen Meg Murry’s (Storm Reid) unexpected quest through time and space to find her missing father (Chris Pine). Joined by her brother, Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), and friend Calvin O’Keefe (Levi Miller), she’s guided by three celestial beings — Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Which, who all happen to be played by three equally ethereal actresses, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and Oprah Winfrey, respectively.
Was that enough to get you excited? Same! But wait ’til you see the astonishing new trailer in all its mind-blowing glory.
This 30-second A Wrinkle in Time snippet features some clips present in the previous trailers, but staged in a way that will make your jaw drop, and your eyes pop. It showcases mind-bending special effects and breathtaking imagery, which really sets the tone for the film as a whole. In short: this TV spot is beyond magical.
