Wonder Woman Lynda Carter will be starring in “Supergirl’s” Season 2
We’re happy to announce that the first female president is here… on Supergirl, that is. In a beautiful twist of fate, Season 2 of the CW’s hit show will feature none other than Lynda Carter: the actress who played Wonder Woman on television from 1975 to 1979. Plus, she will have an extra super role as President of the United States.
Lynda Carter as President of the United States?! Can we please make this happen in real life?
Though this exciting news wasn’t official until recently, executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti teased that this would happen back in March. “We had the perfect role for Lynda Carter. We couldn’t work out her schedule. Next year,” Berlanti told Entertainment Weekly, not giving anything away… until Kreisberg interrupted to state that Lynda will definitely be on the show next year. This then prompted Greg to admit, “All right, she’s the female president of the United States.” Now, it’s official.
Carter is set to appear in the third episode of Season 2 (which premieres on Monday, October 3rd). This will mark her return to TV after being absent for three years (she last played herself on Two and a Half Men). She’s also acted in movies and shows such as Smallville, Law & Order, Sky High, Super Troopers, and many more.
Though her appearance on Supergirl will certainly be a momentous occasion, Lynda isn’t the first superhero star to support Supergirl. Dean Cain – the man who played Superman on the ’90s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman – played Supergirl’s adoptive father. As for Helen Slater (who played the lead role in the 1984 movie Supergirl), she acted as Supergirl’s adoptive mother. Plus, this show will also be adding another character: Superman, who is to be plated by actor Tyler Hoechlin.
You definitely don’t need to use a Lasso of Truth to get this out of us: We are beyond excited to see Wonder Woman on Supergirl.
