The “Wonder Woman” director just smacked down some nasty rumors about the film and we’re so relieved

The entire world is giddy with excitement over the recently released Wonder Woman trailer starring Gal Gadot in the title role.

Since no film that breaks down barriers can skate by without controversy, Wonder Woman’s director had to dispel some nasty rumors about the set. Patty Jenkins went on Twitter and addressed the concerns fans had about the state of the film due to a letter claiming it was in trouble.

The original anonymous letter was posted to Pajiba — mostly calling out the current Warner Brother’s CEO Kevin Tsujihara and famed director Zack Snyder for the studio’s lackluster performance in the box office, as well as major layoffs.

While the letter, though who knows who wrote it, isn’t really that shocking  the fact that the letter went after Wonder Woman, was. The upcoming film is a first for female stand-alone superhero movies and even has a female director calling the shots behind the scenes! Hearing that the movie is in some ways troubled got people’s attention. In the open letter, the anonymous writer referenced the movie and said:

“Don’t try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it’s another mess. It is almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes, over and over.”

Luckily, the brilliant Patty Jenkins handled this situation like a true boss. Her reassuring tweets smacked down the rumors and got me even more excited.

It’s about time we see superhero women kick ass on the big screen. And got a superdirector that’s not afraid to stand behind her vision. Until more comes out about this letter-writer, we’ll trust the public statements of the actual director first.

Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2, 2017, and here’s that trailer one more time, cause we CAN’T RESIST.
