Amazing news: “Wonder Woman II” has a release date — and it’s only 876 days away!
Hey, do you have plans for December 19th, 2019? Well, you do now.
Late Tuesday evening, Warner Bros. dropped some pretty amazing news on us: Wonder Woman II has a release date. And it’s not just any release date, as it’s clear that the holidays are coming early in 2019, as the second solo outing for Diana Prince & Company will land in theaters a few days before Christmas. December 2019 is going to be so merry.
This news comes on the heels of a pretty amazing summer run for the first female-led superhero movie. As of right now, Wonder Woman has made just shy of $400 million dollars domestically, it recently passed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as highest grossing movie of the summer — and it now holds the #2 spot for best box office of the year (if you’re wondering what’s #1, it’s Beauty and the Beast — also an, ahem, female-led film).
With Wonder Woman’s success, it’s no wonder that a sequel has a release date so far ahead of time. The only thing it doesn’t have right now is a script and a director. While Gal Gadot will return to the title role, of course, everything else about the production is still being figured out right now. But don’t worry, we’ve been reassured that the script is being worked on right now, and the fabulous Patty Jenkins has thrown her name into the ring to direct again. It just needs to be confirmed, and that’s your move, WB.
So go ahead and start eagerly counting down the days. Our Wonder Woman will be back in a short 876 days!
