Thousands of women are tweeting pictures of their shoes — here’s why
When it comes to protesting bigotry and injustice, our boots are made for walking. That’s why thousands of women are posting pictures of the shoes they’ll wear to the Women’s March on Washington, in protest of Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 45th president of the United States.
Women are posting the pictures with the hashtags #MarchingShoes and #MarchingBoots, along with their reasons for choosing to join the march.
"The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women's rights are human rights," wrote march organizers on the official Facebook event. "We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us."

Millions of women across the country – and the globe – will march in solidarity with the women in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.
That’s a whole lot of shoes, and we couldn’t be prouder.
