12 women share the best beauty advice they ever received, so take notes
Finding your perfect beauty routine can be a long and arduous process. Oftentimes we’ll turn to celebrities to try to mimic their acne treatments and beauty routines, but the truth is that everyone is different and what works for Beyoncé might not work for J-Lo. (And we’re pretty sure neither of their routines can be practiced at home because we’ve never seen Sheer Diva Fabulosity bottled up and sold in drugstores).
Even though everybody’s ideal routine is different, there are still some tried-and-true tips that will always help us look and feel our best. Sometimes it helps to hear what other women’s beauty routines are, because there’s always room to learn from others. So we chatted to some everyday beauty queens like yourself, who are slaying each and every day out in the wild — without the glam team Beyoncé and J-Lo have access to 24/7.
We asked 12 women what their all-time best beauty advice is, and here’s what they had to say.
1Pattie, 52
"Stop touching your face."
2Lucy, 26
"A product 'tingling' or 'stinging' doesn't necessarily mean it's 'working.' There are a lot of irritants in makeup and skincare—be aware!"
3Katie, 31
"The only thing that smells like burning hair.....is burning hair."
4Kate, 34
"Use coconut oil to remove eye makeup. Helps fight wrinkles too."
5Joanna, 25
"When applying makeup pick ONE main feature to accentuate rather than every feature. For example, a dramatic eye with a dramatic lip tends to only look good on Instagram...if that. #lessismore."
6Gina, 24
"Start a skin care regimen from a young age and keep it up! My mom always made it a point for me to have a cleansing routine, and I have stayed consistent all these years!"
7Maggie, 22
"Makeup is expression! If your makeup makes you feel good, then keep on keeping on!"
8– Stephanie, 33
"Drink lots of water. It's so good for your skin!"
9Sarah, 29
"Stop waxing your eyebrows! Keep them full and just pluck for maintenance. It takes longer but it's SO worth it"
10Claire, 26
"Beauty is about self-care. It should be fun! You should feel empowered and ready to take on the world. It is not a chore, it is not a tool to shame, and it's not another set of rules to follow. If it ever feels like those things, you're doing it wrong."
12Rebecka, 32
"Focus on skincare. Spend your money on skincare. If you have a healthy canvas you can successfully use almost any makeup."
12Mary, 36
"Just because something is more expensive does not mean it is better. But when you find a good product—spend the money on quality!"
Happy moisturizing, beauties!
