Here’s how women on Instagram are fighting body shaming with cake
Jenny Rushmore, a.k.a. Cashmerette, did not realize she was starting an Instagram-wide trend when she stood up to a gross Internet troll recently. The sewing blogger had posted a photo of a bathing suit design she was working on, hashtagging the pic #beachbody. (Because anyone with a body at the beach has a beach body – DUH.) She noticed a ridiculously rude comment the next day.
“You should eat less cake?” Sounds like this guy has a bad case of “thinking-he-has-the-right-to-police-women’s-bodies-itis.” Luckily, there is a cure.
Jenny did not let this jerk get away with this crappy comment. She responded in a new post, where she smiled, twirled around in a beautiful dress, and sarcastically thanked the bully for “the help” with her dietary choices. She ended the caption with the hashtag #CakeWithCashmerette, and unknowingly inspired tons of women.
Since then, ladies have been posting photos of themselves eating sweets, using #CakeWithChashmerette to support the fight against evil body-shaming trolls.
Cake emoji x 100!
The movement went international. Women participated in Vietnam …
… India …
… And Scotland. Because no matter where you are in the world, you and your body should be RESPECTED.
This awesome gal hit the troll nail right on its troll head: “No one deserves to be shamed for their body. NO EXCEPTIONS!!”
#CakeWithCashmerette is a wonderful (and very delicious-looking) reminder that your body is nobody’s business. Patrolling women’s shape, size, or otherwise is not only rude, it’s straight-up wrong. We love Jenny for standing up for herself and women everywhere.
And to all of the gorgeous, smart, caring ladies who stand with her? I say, let them eat cake.
