This woman is using coupons for the best cause ever, and we need more of it

We can never forget the wisdom we get from Grandma. Lauren Puryear agrees with this, as her life more or less focuses around what her grandmother taught her, especially in regards to the importance of helping other people. Back in 2012, Puryear — who hails from Woodbridge, New Jersey — started up an organization called For the Love of Others, which has a mission to enhance and enrich the lives of all people by providing opportunities and a sense of purpose. With time, Puryear realized that through the use of coupons, she could buy more supplies for more people.

"I started couponing for food items like spaghetti, meatballs, and I was (often) able to get the items for free or for little to no money," she said in an interview with

Pretty soon, Puryear learned the fine art of couponing, and managed to get so much for so little. For example? She admits that she’s able to feed 150 people on just $20.

Let’s say that again: 150 mouths fed for just $20.

Of course, there’s a lot of skill involved in such a feat. Puryear shops at multiple grocery stores, and really needs to research her coupons to get it right. But even so, it’s amazing that one person could help so many people in need.

Puryear is only 29-years-old, but has a goal set for her 30th birthday — By that day, she wants to feed 30,000 people. (Currently she’s in the 5k range, which is nothing to scoff at.)

But, that’s not all. She’s also getting a head start on the holidays, when certain families need food, love, and a little support the most.

And of course, there’s the Feed The Hungry tour, which hits areas like North Carolina, and Virginia. And, uh. The multiple other helpful, incredible projects that Puryear and her team accomplish every single month. For The Love Of Others definitely keeps busy.

So, next time you take a look at the Sunday circular, look at the coupons and see if you, yourself, can make a difference in the lives of others. The kindness of Lauren Puryear is pretty inspiring, and proves that one person truly can make a difference.
