This woman bought out a whole toy store to give gifts to kids in need
Carol Suchman, a venture capitalist, philanthropist and overall amazing person, has a heart for kids and buys birthday gifts every year for children in the foster care system. But this year, she’s stepping things up. A lot. A WHOLE LOT, actually. Carol just bought an entire toy store and is donating all of its contents to homeless kids for the holidays.
The (massive) good deed went down when Carol was walking around her New York neighborhood and noticed a “for rent” sign in the window of Hudson Party Store in the West Village. So she called the phone number on the sign and bought the store’s entire inventory. We’re talking everything. She told WSBTV News 2, “Children are always my focus, so that’s why I realized that a lot of foster kids get a lot of used things and I realized probably a lot of them never had a birthday gift that they actually wanted.” Well they will now, thanks to Carol.
The haul from the toy store included plenty of boxes of school supplies in addition to thousands of toys. Carol wrapped everything up and donated it to the New York City Department of Homeless Services, just in time for the holiday season.
We love it when amazing people choose to do amazing acts of kindness, and Carol is certainly one of those people. Way to go! Christmas will definitely be a lot merrier for the children on the receiving end of this remarkable blessing. We’re definitely feeling inspired to share the love ourselves. Remember, guys…buying an entire store for homeless kids is AWESOME, but obviously not everyone is in a position to make such a generous grand gesture. Every little bit helps, though! One kid and one toy at a time, we can all be like Carol.
