This hero woman took her finals while in labor and graduated from Harvard Law — and her grad photo is EVERYTHING
Anyone who is or has ever been in college knows that finals season is no joke, but what if you had to deal with it while bringing new life into this world? A Harvard student took on her finals and giving birth to a baby…literally at the same time. And the photo she shared of her little one celebrating her graduation day is absolutely everything.
The woman — 24-year-old Briana Williams — posted a photo on Instagram of herself in her cap and gown, holding her tiny baby. And although the picture itself is gorgeous, the caption is what will really blow you away.
“I went into labor in April — during final exam period,” Williams wrote. “I immediately requested an epidural so that my contractions wouldn’t interfere with my Family Law grade. And, with tears in my eyes, I finished it.”
Somehow, this strong lady managed to take her final while in labor, giving birth to a human child, and not only did she get it done, but she also went into her last year of law school raising her newborn daughter on her own and successfully graduated with a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law.
We know what you’re thinking: How is this even possible? It took a lot of determination, it sounds like, since Williams added that baby Evie had to come with her to a few classes when no one else could watch her.
“I did not think that, at 24 years old, as a single mom, I would be able to get through one of the most intellectually rigorous and challenging positions of my life,” she continued. “It was hard. It hurt. Instagram can make peoples’ lives seem seamless, but this journey has been heart wrenching. However, I am happy to say that I DID do it.”
And now, she has that degree and a beautiful baby, and honestly, after all that, is there anything Williams can’t do? Already, it seems she’s inspiring people all over the world, and her post has already racked up more than 19,000 likes.
In an interview with USA Today, Williams revealed that she already has a job at a Los Angeles litigation firm and she’s preparing for the bar exam — but she never expected this kind of a reaction to her post.
"Try as hard as you can to do what you have to do," she told the newspaper. "Eventually you’re going to receive the glory from that. And not only that, your child is going to be even more appreciative of you and the sacrifices you made.
Next time you don’t want to get out of bed or study for a test, just remember that Williams is out there killing it — with a baby in tow. If she can take her finals while in labor, can’t the rest of us, like, at least do our laundry?
