Your feminist fire of the day is watching this woman smack down sexist comments in the European Parliament
European Parliament member and Polish politician Janusz Korwin-Mikke is in hot water after making sexist comments during a recent meeting. Oh, but this isn’t his first offense. Korwin-Mikke is no stranger to controversy thanks to his ongoing xenophobic, defamatory, and racist antics. Suspensions and fines seem to follow him wherever he goes.
But for every guy like Korwin-Mikke, there’s a badass woman like Iratxe Garcia Perez to stand up to him.
According to The Huffington Post, when giving a response to a comment regarding equal pay between men and women, Korwin-Mikke had this to say:
"And of course, women must earn less than men. Because they are weaker, they are smaller, they are less intelligent," Korwin-Mikke said. "They must earn less, that’s all."

Well, this didn’t sit well with Spanish Socialist member Iratxe Garcia Perez, and so she gave Korwin-Mikke a piece of her mind.
"Well, according to what you're saying and according to your theory, I wouldn't have the right to be here as a member of Parliament," Perez said, according to an English translation of her comment. "And I know that you're very upset and very concerned about the fact that we women can represent citizens on an equal footing with you."
Smack. Down.
The parliament’s president is deciding whether or not Korwin-Mikke broke the “no defamatory language” rule. But, we don’t have to wait for a punishment from parliament to know that this was serious.
Perez stood up for women everywhere. And, we’re so proud of her for doing so. We totally need more women like her.
