This Instagrammer dresses to match famous works of art, and it’s a masterpiece
It’s not everyday you see an outfit that’s a true work of art. You know the one — perfectly put-together, effortless, and awe-inspiring all at once. Well, Michelle Satterlee (better known as @dressedtomatch on Instagram) matches her outfits to art, so we can thank her for taking a “good outfit day” to the next level.
The Sacramento-based art gallery owner moonlights as a piece of art, or at least disguises herself as one thanks to her clever looks. Whether she’s blending into an Ellsworth Kelly technicolor masterpiece at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art or snapping one of her friends who’s blending into a Mondrian, she is quite literally always dressed to match.
According to an exclusive interview with Fashionista, the whole thing started as an accident in 2013, when Michelle wore a pink dip-dyed Diane Von Furstenberg dress to the opening of a gallery where she ended up matching a piece of art.
From there, she purposely wore something #onbrand to each opening before officially starting her Instagram. And with over 9,000 followers, she’s inspired a whole movement of people who DO believe that art inspires life.
By using the hashtag #dressedtomatch, not only is Michelle able to foster a community of art and fashion lovers, but she’s also able to find photos to regram. Even if you don’t live in a city with a poppin’ art scene, may you always remember that you don’t have to see art to BE art.
