This woman gave birth on a plane because females are strong as hell

Witnessing a fellow passenger go into labor on a plane probably won’t do much to calm your nerves during a flight but it sure does make for one hell of a story. BuzzFeed News reports that a woman gave birth on a plane during a recent Cebu Pacific flight from Dubai to the Philippines, and luckily for us, fellow passenger Missy Berberabe Umandel documented all of the baby-birthing excitement on Facebook.

“I can’t tell for sure when she started having contractions because the majority of the passengers were asleep at that time — including myself,” Umandel told BuzzFeed News of the incident, which happened about five hours into the flight. “At about 8:40 a.m. my mother woke me up, telling me that the lady was about to give birth.”

With the assistance of two nurses on board, baby Haven was delivered mid-air. Afterwards, the plane made an emergency landing in India where the mother, grandmother, and newborn deplaned before the aircraft was sanitized and prepped to continue on to the Philippines.

Umandel’s viral account of the incident basically depicts the mother as a real-life superhero (because she totally is, BTW).

“She was set to give birth on October, so this came to a surprise, even to her Mother who picked her up from Dubai,” Umandel wrote. “For once in my life, I saw flight attendants, who are meant to always maintain their poise and composure, panic ever so slightly. Flight attendants started calling for medical assistance, and luckily, there were two nurses among the passengers. She was already crowning, so she was brought to the more spacious area in front of the plane. We only heard one semi-loud screech, and a few seconds later, there were tinier, cute screeches, and it was when we knew the baby was born. Luckily, she only had to push ONCE. Moments later, the woman got up to go back to her seat, baby in arms (mighty strong, I might say).”

Clearly, this fearless mama is a #boss. Giving birth is already scary AF without the flying element, so we’re totally blown away by this mom’s strength and composure.

In the end, it pays to give birth on a plane. In addition to becoming an Internet celebrity before uttering her first babble, baby Haven hit the jackpot in the form of one million free air mile points, compliments of the airline.
