This stray dog saved this vacationing woman from attackers so OF COURSE the woman took her home
25-year-old British student Georgia Bradley was on vacation in Greece when she ran into some trouble. On a remote beach on the island of Crete, two men approached Bradley and asked her to go for a drink. When Bradley brushed off their advances, the men grew aggressive, and one of them violently grabbed at her.
“I was on my own and it was a very scary and difficult situation,” Bradley explained to the Daily Mail.
Just then, as Bradley explains, a small black dog– “shot out of nowhere, jumped up at me and began barking and licking my hand, and that made the men think twice. She saved me. She must have noticed something was wrong. When I went back to the apartment she followed me and finally let us stroke her.”
When Bradley went back into town to look for the dog’s owner, she discovered that her rescuer was a stray. She tried to bring the dog to a vet and a shelter and was turned away by both. The little dog, whom Bradley named Pepper, followed Bradley and her boyfriend around for the rest of their vacation. As Bradley explains, when they left for the airport, they saw Pepper running after their car, and Bradley couldn’t handle the heartbreak.
“When I got home I couldn’t stop thinking about her so I took the soonest flight back out that I could, which was two weeks later. It was a real risk because we may never have found her again. But when we saw Pepper on the beach, it was the best feeling ever.”
It was no easy thing bringing Pepper home. Bradley needed to have Pepper microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and issued a pet passport. Furthermore, Pepper had to spend 21 days in quarantine in a boarding kennel before she was allowed to return with Bradley to the UK. To top it all off, a week after Pepper got to the UK, she gave birth to a litter of 6 puppies.
So this journey was nothing if not intense for Bradley and Pepper. Still, we are so inspired by this story of a woman and a dog rescuing each other and we are so glad that the two battled the odds and ended up together.
