Wait, Was the Story of ‘Frozen’ For Real?

Peruvian author Isabella Tanikumi saw a little too much of herself when she watched the movie Frozen. The writer, who published a memoir called Yearnings of the Heart, is suing Disney for a cool $250 million for lifting the plot of the beloved ice queen movie from her autobiography.

Disney claims that Frozen is based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale. But Tanikumi claims that parts of the movie were based on her childhood growing up in the Andean mountains of Peru.

According to Amazon, Tanikumi’s book is “a journey through various phases of her remarkable life—from her family’s survival during the devastating earthquake of 1970 in Huaraz, Peru, to the trials of overcoming heartbreaks of her youth. Conquering personal insecurities led to exploring the reaches of her intellect while facing the tragic, and untimely death of her beloved sister, Laura.”

Elements of the story seem similar to the quest at the heart of Frozen, but we didn’t spot any talking snowmen or trolls. Disney has yet to make a statement about the lawsuit, which was first reported by TMZ, but our guess is that the gist of their answer will be: “Let it go.”
