Here are some wonderfully witchy ways to celebrate the Draconid meteor shower

Calling all spell-casters! Crystal-keepers! Worshippers of nature! Friday’s Draconid Meteor Shower is almost upon us and we need to focus up! What can we do to celebrate this phenomenon and how can we use its properties to live our best magical life? It’s time to brainstorm a few ideas about how we can get the most out of this celestial rock party, because it’s going to be a rager.

“Falling stars” have been worshipped for thousands of years. The Greeks used meteors to venerate their gods. And similarly in Mecca, the Kaaba houses an ancient meteorite, “The Black Stone,” that was supposedly given to Ibrahim by the angel Jibril before Islam was ever even a thing! They are a spiritual sign that there is something out there that is bigger than us, and that’s a big deal.

Meteorites are mainly used in modern magical workings to enhance any dealings with other-worldly beings because they are literally out of this world. Working magically with meteorites grounds a person and gives them the ability to connect with spirit.

So, keeping in mind that meteorites are physical reminders that we are not alone in the universe, the best way to celebrate the shower is to recognize the whole of it as a message from Mother Nature. “Hello!” she’s saying. “Just wanted to remind you that I’m still controlling the world, and you’re not!” Say hello back to her and thank her for everything she’s done for us. Promise to do your best to keep her healthy and alive.

If you desire to do something more proactive during the shower, then gather some supplies to cast a ~love spell~.

Why a love spell? Well, Fridays during a waxing moon are the best time of the month to conduct spells pertaining to welcoming love into your life. Check out Diane Ahlquist’s book Moon Spells to choose a simple yet potent ritual, or make one up yourself!  The tools I always grab are a pink candle, a rose quartz, a clear quartz, and some fresh or dried roses.

As long as you have the intention, you can make it happen. It’s all about those positive vibes!

After the shower is over, search around your backyard to see if you can find one of those meteorites that were chucked out of Draco the Dragon’s mouth. If you can find one, try using it in your chakra work to open up your Third Eye, or use them in a ritual to connect to your favorite diety and ask them for guidance or advice. You can also carry a meteorite around with you if you have blood-related issues like anemia. The iron in the rock is said to help improve blood flow and bulk up your red blood cells.

In the end, enjoy the show everyone!

Remember, there’s no way you can mess up when it comes to appreciating the magic of nature. Even if you just decide to watch Draconid with friends while eating copious amounts of popcorn, honestly, that’s a spiritual practice in itself.
