How will Winter Storm Skylar affect Boston?
Though Daylight Savings Time usually implies that springtime is just around the corner (and the countdown to summer is underway), the Northeast is bracing for its third nor’easter in less than two weeks. According to The Weather Channel, Winter Storm Skylar is about to barrel into the region and could dump as much as 18 inches of snow over the next two days.
The National Weather Service has issued a storm warning for much of New England, so residents in the Boston area should expect to be affected.
After Winter Storms Riley and Quinn, we all thought the worst was over. But, it looks as though we’re going to have to endure at least one more storm, as snow is expected to begin late on Monday night, March 12th, and continue into Tuesday.
The snow is expected to become heavy in southern New England overnight with accumulation predicted at 10 to 18 inches, meaning the morning rush hour commute might be difficult for some Bostonians. The Weather Channel notes that Skylar is projected to unleash “wind gusts up to 60 mph or higher” throughout the region, which threatens more widespread power outages.
In fact, parts of Kentucky and West Virginia have already felt the affects of Winter Storm Skylar, with residents waking up to no electricity and as much as a foot of snow on the ground this morning.

Be safe out there, everybody! You might want to consider taking a snow day to cuddle up on the couch with some Netflix and popcorn, and have those shovels at the ready.
