More huge Netflix news! (It involves Winona Ryder)
Netflix continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. What have they brought us this time? Oh, just the promise of a brand new binge-able show starring none other than Winona Ryder. If the name Winona Ryder doesn’t get you 10,000% interested, then allow us to also include the fact that the show will be spooky and supernatural. Sign us up.
The new series received an 8-episode order from Netflix, and even though it at one point had a name — Montauk — it no longer has a name. So let’s give it a name now, and just call it The Winona Ryder Show We Can’t Wait To Watch. Netflix will probably come up with something better, but that’s a good working title.
The show comes to us from the Duffer brothers, who are helming Wayward Pines on Fox right now (are you watching Wayward Pines? You should be). The show will be set in the Long Island town of Montauk in the 1980s, and Ryder is set to play the mother of a missing boy. As Ryder’s character, Joyce, tries to get to the bottom of his disappearance she finds herself involved with “top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and one very strange little girl.”
First thing that springs to mind, The X-Files. Second thing that springs to mind, Lost. Third: The Affair. Fourth, can I watch this show right now? The show won’t land on Netflix until 2016, but at least we can rest easy knowing Netflix has some Winona Ryder infused tricks up their sleeve. Oh, this is gonna be good.
