Winona Ryder says ‘Beetlejuice 2’ is really, definitely happening

Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. BEETLEJUICE. All it takes for him to appear is saying his name three times, right? Well, we’ve been chanting his name for almost 30 years now, and finally we might see some results. According to Lydia Deetz, he’s coming back for more.

Winona Ryder stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers last night, and Meyers cut right to the chase about the prospects of a Beetlejuice 2. There have long been rumors about a sequel, but nothing’s ever been officially confirmed. Director Tim Burton has mentioned before that he’s got a script, and it was written with our OG Beetlejuice, Michael Keaton, in mind. Ketaon has also mentioned that he’s in for the movie if Burton’s in, so it looks like everything is neatly lining up.

And now, from Ryder herself,  it is REALLY, 100% HAPPENING.

As Ryder tells Meyers, she “thinks” she can confirm the sequel, seeing as how Burton has already mentioned that it’s happening. She’s just, you know, reminding us that it’s happening and getting us really excited once again. But she knows no other details, even though we’re begging her for more.

In her interview with Meyers, she also reveals that sometimes she goes through security at airports, and TSA agents ask her to say “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.” So maybe we can all thank her for this upcoming sequel? It sounds like she’s been saying his name a lot.

You can check out the full interview with Ryder below, and now it’s time to go dig out the Lydia inspired all-black wardrobe again. Not that it ever went away in the first place.
