Are you ready for a Winnie-the-Pooh live-action movie? Because we are.

It’s been a BIG week for Winnie-the-Pooh. First, it was announced by publishing company Egmont that a sequel to Return to the Hundred Acre Wood will be released next year. And now we’ve learned the live-action version of the beloved cartoon is HAPPENING. Like, really really happening.

What with Disney giving practically all of the movies of our childhood the live-action treatment (OK, just Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, and Mulan), it isn’t the biggest surprise that good ‘ole Winnie was next in line. Best of all, the adaptation will be directed by indie director, Alex Ross Perry, says Deadline.

Yesterday, Perry, who you might remember from Lena Dunham’s debut film Tiny Furniture or Listen Up Philip (which he wrote, directed, and starred in), tweeted “I imagine a lot people are about to be very confused,” referencing to the whims of April Fools’ Day. He added, “All joking and April Fools proximity aside, I truly love Pooh Bear and have my whole life so this will be for young kids AND people like me.” And for us, Alex! AND FOR US.

Right now, the only information we have about the new Winnie-the-Pooh movie, is that it will follow a grown-up Christopher Robin. We’re not totally sure how Perry will make a medley of talking animals in clothes come alive, but we’re super psyched nonetheless!
