Listening to all of Will Smith’s hits simultaneously is strangely relaxing

Listening to a bunch of songs at once sounds like an absolute nightmare. Unless, of course, the songs are all of Will Smith’s hits.

Last night at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, Will Smith unveiled a four-minute mash-up track featuring every one of his hit songs. According to Daily Dot reporter Eve Peyser, museum guests were brought into a “dimly lit room, full of wildlife and half-destroyed computers,” an apparent statement about the destructive relationship between nature and technology. As museum guests waited in anticipation, they were treated to the mashed-up medley.

The result is a chaotic mass of sound that, overall, is pretty chill to listen to. You’ll find yourself catching on to Fresh Prince of Bel Air‘s opening verses, only to drift off into “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” or “Men In Black.”

When Peyser asked Smith why he seemed to be switching focus from film to art, Smith attributed much of his inspiration to his daughter, Willow. “Willow changed everything for me when she said, ‘This is a fragment of a holographic reality that a higher consciousness made.’ At first I didn’t know what she meant. But then I read Baudrillard and it all made sense,” he said. “It’s about ideas, bro. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

We’re not sure whether to brush that one off or to take his aim at a presidential run seriously. Either way, if Will and Kanye are gonna follow through with their promises, presidential rap battles might be in the near future.

Will’s Getty Museum debut comes just two days after releasing his first song in 10 years: a remix with Latin Grammy-nominated band, Bomba Estéreo, called “Fiesta.” A music video is expected to come soon.

Now, drift off to the sounds of Will Smith’s entire music career, below.
