Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are starring in a new Sherlock Holmes movie, and we’re already dying
If you’re a big Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly fan (and come on, who isn’t? We’re literally still quoting lines from Talladega Nights and Step Brothers. “Don’t you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby!”), then hold onto your hats, because we’ve got some BIG NEWS.
Ferrell and Reilly have signed on to play Sherlock and Watson in a brand new Sherlock Holmes movie!
That’s right, move over Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch — there’s a new Sherlock in town (ha…get it?). According to Deadline, Ferrell and Reilly have been looking for something to work on together for several years, and this is the project that finally caught their attention. And we’re so freaking glad it did.
Why it’s taken this long for someone to conceive of a Sherlock comedy is kind of amazing — they were essentially the original buddy cops (and we know, we know, they weren’t technically cops, but you get what we’re saying).
Tropic Thunder and Get Hard director Etan Cohen is set to direct the film, which is based on a screenplay he adapted from an original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle mystery, and Mosiac and Gary Sanchez Productions (Ferrell’s personal production company) are set to coproduce.
Filming is scheduled to start after Thanksgiving, and we can’t freaking wait.
