Will Donald Glover win an EGOT at the 2018 Grammys?
Audrey Hepburn. Rita Moreno. Whoopi Goldberg. And now, Donald Glover? The aforementioned women are all EGOT winners, and if Glover walks away with a win during Sunday’s 2018 Grammy Awards, he’ll inch closer to joining the squad.
EGOT, which stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, is an exclusive crew of just a dozen artists. You pretty much have to be an overall dope talent to walk away with statues in TV, recording, film, and theater. It’s the grand slam of entertainment.
While it’s an elite club that some classic thespians belong to, at just 34 years old, Glover looks like he has a serious chance at becoming an EGOT winner during his lifetime.
Having nabbed five 2018 Grammy nominations for his Childish Gambino album, Awaken, My Love!, if Glover walks away with even just one award, he’ll already be halfway to an EGOT.
It all started with Glover’s Emmy wins last year. Not only did he win two statues for his work on Atlanta, the critically-acclaimed FX show — but he made history the first black person to win best director in a comedy series.

If you saw the “B.A.N.” episode of Atlanta (which was a genius show within a show!), then you know Glover’s historic directing win was well deserved. He also won an Emmy that night for best actor in a comedy. (And can we also give him an award for looking this good in purple?)
The “E” of Glover’s potential EGOT is secured, so now back to the Grammy nominations. Glover, who performs under the name Childish Gambino, was nominated for five awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best R&B Song for “Redbone.” Glover has hinted that he may be stepping away from Childish Gambino, and we’re hoping that he earns a Grammy on Sunday. (Seriously, “Redbone” not winning Best R&B song? That’s just not an option!)
As for the Oscar and Tony awards, Glover can totally nab those. He’s set to play Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story — and the Tony? Well, we already know he sings and acts (and will be playing Simba in The Lion King remake), so Broadway isn’t such a far stretch.
