Oh happy day: Wilco just dropped a FREE album for the weekend
Friday is finally here, and the music gods must be smiling because Wilco (singer of amazing songs like “Misunderstood” and “Jesus, Etc.”) just dropped a totally free album for us to enjoy! The album, titled Star Wars, was a total surprise to fans — the band only announced it late last night over Facebook. That’s right — Wilco pulled a Beyoncé. Although it’s free for now, there’s no word on how long it will be available for download on their website, so best get it while the getting is good!
“Why release an album this way and why make it free?” Jeff Tweedy wrote on Facebook. “Well, the biggest reason, and I’m not sure we even need any others, is that it felt like it would be fun. What’s more fun than a surprise?”
Sounds like a totally awesome and perfect reason to us!
The album, which is not linked to the famed film franchise of the same name, has 11 original songs. You can download it for free via Wilco’s website. You can also preorder the album on CD or vinyl. The album, the band’s ninth, is being released on the band’s own label, dBpm, at a future date.
So what are ya waiting for, Gigglers? Go get some free tunes for your weekend!
