Why I Love and Hate Twitter

Recently, I joined twitter. Everybody told me to get one, and my parents said I could when I turned thirteen, so I got one not long after my birthday. After you read this, it would be cool if followed me, because I really don’t have many followers. I’ve found that even though Twitter is really fun, there are some things I don’t like about it. 

Here’s why I don’t like it:

First of all, some people post the most pointless things. I mean, sure, pointless things are funny, but I’m talking about REALLY stupid stuff. Yesterday, I saw something that said “lol I’m drinking sprite.” Cool. I REALLY DON’T CARE IF YOU’RE DRINKING SODA RIGHT NOW. I mean, I shouldn’t be one to talk, last night I posted a tweet about how I thought there was a ketchup controversy at the restaurant I was at. (Some people called it stupid, I called it observant) However, Twitter is made for people who want to share the things they see, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But I’m saying be careful with what you’re putting online.

Another thing I don’t like is that people freak out over celebrities tweets. If Kim Kardashian tweets something, people make such a big deal out it. Sometimes, my friends are like “OMG DID YOU SEE WHAT ONE DIRECTION TWEETED?! HARRY STYLES LIKES DOUGHNUTS. OH EM GEE.” Wow.

And finally, I don’t like twitter because people bully other people. Everyday I see people put other people down on Twitter, and it makes me really upset. Some of the things I see on twitter are really mean. Just like with any other social networking site, bullying will happen, and it’s something we have to be more aware of.

Now, here’s why I do like it:

I like that you can find out the latest on important things like news, or interesting things that happen around the world. I know saying that makes me sound like a bit of a geek, but it’s true!

Also, Twitter makes me laugh. The people I follow post really entertaining tweets. Some of them might be pointless, but they’re actually really funny and witty.

I also like twitter because I like hearing other people’s opinions, and what they have to say. My personal favorites are the HelloGiggles writers’ tweets!

I really wish more of my friends used twitter. Most of them use Instagram, and have decided that they won’t explore other social media apps like Twitter. Overall, Twitter is a really fun app, where you can find things for all of your interests!
