Whoa: This 18-year-old just got a piece of her art in the Met

Cliffannie Forrester is our new hero. At only 18 years old, she’s already completed one of her lifelong dreams of getting a piece of her artwork in the Met — but she’s not stopping there. This success has only made her want to work harder, and she wants to get more of her pieces featured in museums. false

It happened when her piece, Uganda, was selected as the winning piece in a scholarship competition called P.S. Art 2016: Celebrating the Creative Spirit of NYC Kids. She chose to paint this particular image after scrolling through photos from a trip to Uganda she took with her church; this image was particularly striking to her, and now, it’s a particularly striking painting. It will be on view at the Met until October 23, 2016, and will also be featured on a billboard in Times Square from June 22 to June 26.

She often shares other works on her Instagram, and we are so impressed by her. She uses oil paints (as she told someone on Twitter), and her work is stunning. She has a great eye for color and composition.
