Who is Emily Sweeney dating? This luge love story will have your heart slip-sliding
It’s totally okay to admit that you’re addicted to the 2018 Winter Olympics. We won’t judge, because we’re right there with you. And we absolutely adore American luger Emily Sweeney. While she experienced a crash that was tough to watch, the athlete is said to be doing okay.
While the focus for these top athletes is (and should be!) their Olympic performance, it’s always nice to hear the personal stories that just make you go awwww. Like the love story of speedskater Sven Kramer and his adorable girlfriend. Or learning that gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin is dating a fellow athlete (a detail her mom accidentally leaked. Oops!).
It’s probably tough trying to balance the demands of being an Olympian and the rigors of dating, so it totally makes sense that athletes date one another, right? And that’s exactly what Sweeney is doing: She’s been in a relationship with Italian athlete Dominik Fischnaller for several years.
Oh, and he’s also a luger. This is just too perfect! The 24 year olds have been dating for eight years, and love showing one another support.
Sweeney proudly cheered her guy on when he won the World Cup.
She captioned the photo,
"Seeing this guy so happy and proud just feels right. He earned it!"
Even when things don’t go as planned, they show one another support. When Sweeney didn’t qualify for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Fischnaller did what any good boyfriend would do. He brought her a cup of her fave ice cream.
And after she made the PyeongChang Olympics, Fischnaller was one of the first to congratulate Sweeney.
While there may be distance and hectic schedules between the two, they always find a way for couple time. And they look frickin’ adorable doing it.
They agree that “Face time is better than FaceTime.”
