While Taylor Swift was trying to reclaim the snake emoji, Kim Kardashian blocked it completely
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last few days, you know that Taylor Swift recently dropped a new song. On Thursday, the pop star released “Look What You Made Me Do” from her upcoming album Reputation. Rumors are already swirling fast and furious that the track throws major shade at a certain celebrity couple: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
There are a lot of clues, from pointed lyrical jabs to the gothic font Swift uses to spell out “Reputation.” But arguably the biggest clue is the snake. It’s a symbol of their feud that dates back to last summer.

Last July, Kardashian shared a series of Snapchat videos proving that Swift approved the controversial lyrics about her in Kanye’s song “Famous.” Incidentally (or not?), she posted them on National Snake Day. Ever since, hordes of fans have spammed both Kardashian and Swift’s social media accounts with the snake emoji.
With “Look What You Made Me Do,” it’s clear that Taylor Swift is trying to reclaim the snake emoji as her own. She teased its with snake videos, and she’s even selling snake jewelry now.
Unsurprisingly, Swift’s legions of loyal Swifties have been inundating Kardashian’s social media accounts with the now-infamous snake emoji. Many of her tweets are met with giant blocks of emoji snakes, like so:

While Swift embraces the serpent, Kardashian is totally over it. According to some Instagram sleuths at BuzzFeed, Kardashian blocked the snake emoji on her Instagram account. How do they know? They commented on of her Instagram pics with a test snake emoji, and found that it only showed up when they were logged into their own account. Meaning, if you comment on one of her photos with a snake, Kim won’t see it.
Considering Taylor Swift’s album doesn’t come out until November, it’s probably safe to assume that we’re all in for a lot more celebrity shade.
We suspect we’ll be seeing a whole lot more of that snake emoji, whether we block it or not.
