Where you live might determine what lingerie you’re wearing right now

We showed you what lingerie you’d prefer based on your zodiac sign. But now, you can find out whether your boobs would prefer the sunny beaches of L.A. or the city life of New York!

In what is an in-depth (and underneath?) look at lingerie culture, Marie Claire is sharing expert opinions of what women prefer coast to coast.

According to underwear aficionados, the West Coast likes a mix of comfort with show-and-tell.

Consider the large community of yoga lovers and beach babes out west, plus celebs like Emily Ratajkowski and Khloe Kardashian trekking about in sexy bodysuits with jeans.

It’s no surprise that those closer to the Pacific don’t mind a bra strap or even full bra showing.

"Women on the West Coast are completely happy to let their underpinnings show, Liseanne Frankfurt, designer of LFRANK, says. “Women on the West Coast also seem to be shifting away from underwire brassieres. Natural is the order of the day out here!

As for ladies on the East Coast, there’s a fondness for structure and more traditional styles such as balconettes and full-coverage bras.

“Work environments are more traditional, explains Jenny Altman, CEO of I Love A Good. Thus women “still look for nipple coverage and support.

There’s also a preference for “no frills” and more “seamless/smooth products” to go under blouses and shirts, according to Sonja Winther, president of Chantelle USA.

If you like a pop of color when it comes to your underwear, you’d fit in with the West Coast. Classic darker tones are what East Coasters are into.

Now how about what’s below the waist line?

Alexandra Popa, founder and designer of Bordelle, notes that on the East Coast (except for warm-weather Florida dwellers), women prefer comfort thanks to boy shorts, briefs, and hipster styles. As for the West Coast (except for Portland and Seattle), it’s all about “skimpier styles, like thongs.”

Christina Remenyi, founder and designer of Fortnight, explains that there’s a growing trend overall of women being more “comfortable exposing their lingerie and layering it as part of their wardrobe.”

Altman agrees, noting that women nationwide are “owning their femininity” and their lingerie choices reflect that.

“The trends are different, but women are wearing what they want to feel happy, healthy and sexy, Altman says.

One noticeable trend across the board in the intimates industry? Women are taking the helm with design.

We’d know best, right?
