Sasha Obama wasn’t at her dad’s farewell address — but where she was was even more inspiring
As her father Barack said his inspiring, comforting final goodbye, everybody in the United States had one major question on their minds: Where was Sasha Obama during the farewell address in Chicago? We saw Malia cry (#neveragain) and Michelle stand strong, but where was the POTUS’ younger daughter — the one half-responsible for the greatest photo ever taken in the White House — during one of the biggest nights of her dad’s eight-year presidency?
The answer, as we found out after #WhereIsSasha trended nationally on Twitter, is pretty much Peak Obama. The kid was studying.
Where was Sasha? WH Official says she stayed back in DC tonight because she has an exam at school tomorrow morning.

This is par for the course for the 15-year-old, whose sister is already going to Harvard and mother is a graduate of both Princeton University and Harvard Law School. Though of course, Twitter had some ~ colorful ~ theories of their own.

Hopefully Sasha DVR’d her dad’s speech (which also addressed racial tensions, Islamophobia, and economic concerns, among many other issues), though, as his words about she and her sister pretty much had every sane and logical human in America in tears.
“Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion. You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.
We’ll miss you Sasha, Malia, Barack, and Michelle — and can’t wait to see what all four of you do to save the world next.
