When do we find out the final election results? It could be a long night

It’s finally Election Night, friends. And we’re seriously in an anxious frenzy about when we’ll find out the presidential election results. Like, seriously, when will we know who the next president is?! It’s such a major question to have just hanging in the balance. We’re so, so ready for the too-real election stress to come to an end, y’all.
So when can we expect to find out the final election results?
According to Pop Sugar, presidential elections are usually completed within 24 hours after polling. When we were voting in the Obama days (ugh, we miss him already), networks called President Obama’s wins around 11 pm EST. According to The New York Times, the polls began closing at 6pm EST this evening. Voting in-person will wrap up at 1am, so seriously prepare for a long wait.
Luckily, not everything takes until that late! The NYT says,
"Half of the 106 electoral votes in competitive states and districts are in places that finish voting by 7:30 p.m. About 90 percent of the 106 electoral votes are in places that finish voting by 9 p.m."
So if you can’t wait until the late, late hours of the night, you’ll at least have a rough idea of how things are going by the time you go to bed.
