What’s Better Than Black Friday? Cyber Monday!
Black Friday is really stressful. People get really worked up about toasters, flat screens, and there are mobs, and it’s really just not my thing. I’m more of a Cyber Monday girl. That sounds weirder than I intended. Anyway, Cyber Monday is the best because you can shop online while snuggled up in your PJs. No waiting in line, no violence, no crying children, nothing. Just you, your laptop, and Pandora. Plus, there are awesome deals around the web! Here are my picks:
Night Edge Dress, $30 (Reg. $48) at Nasty Gal
It’s that time of the year when I start looking for a New Year’s dress, because you have to wear something new for good luck, right? I like this dress because of its unique collar and simplicity. You can pair it up with some bright heels and jewelry.
COPE Acid Rain Tote Bag, $19.99 (Reg. $39.99) at Urban Outfitters
I LOVE roomy tote bags that can hold my laptop, books, notebooks, lunch, and sweater (during winter it is keyto own a bag in which your sweater or coat can fit, because the second you step inside a heated room or building, you’ll be forced to adapt to the new climate, and I hate leaving my sweater around other people’s homes). This tote is also just rad! I love acid wash. I secretly have at least five acid wash shorts which means I should have been born in the 80s.
The Tarte of Giving Collector’s Set & Travel Bag, $59 ($490 value) at Sephora
Unsure of what get your girl friend who you know pretty well but not that well? This set is one of those universally appreciated gifts for people who like make-up but can never make up(ha!) their mind when they’re at the store. Should you get the bronze eyeshadow or the brassy eyeshadow? The light pink lipgloss or the cherry lipgloss? This set has all the basics. Tarte is also a really great, trustworthy brand, so for $59 you’re really getting a good deal.
‘S Marvelous Heel in Scarlet, $18.99 (Reg. $37.99) at Modcloth
I think every girl should own a pair of red shoes. They stand out and they go with almost anything. This particular pair of heels is gorgeous; I love the vintage-inspired design, and the perfect length of the heel.
Canon EOS Rebel T3 12MP DSLR Camera, $449.99 (Reg. $649.99) at Target
I know $450 seems like a lot to ask for a camera, but it’s so so worth it. My big splurge of the year was this exact camera, and I can testify its awesomeness. I had been wanting a digital SLR for years, so about a year ago, I started saving. Unfortunately, I didn’t wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday, so I ended up paying around $700, plus some for an extra lens. But I’ve been taking this camera everywhere I go because it’s so much lighter than most SLRs and the quality of the photos is just amazing. Plus, the Canon Rebel is super cool because it comes with all kinds of settings like fish eye and black/white, and it’s a touch screen. So, for $450 you are getting an incredible deal and I am so kicking myself for not waiting until today!
Transitional Blazer, $24.95 (Reg. $34.99) at Daily Look
Ever since I started working for a place that requires at least a put-together kind of look, I’ve been on the epic hunt for cute blazers. You can generally find a black or gray one at any store, but the brighter colors are a little bit more tricky, because you don’t want to look completely ridiculous. This color is bright but the blazer itself is professional (and it doesn’t have those crazy shoulder-pads) and cute. If you want to spice up your work wardrobe, I suggest investing in a few of these!
Paper Medallion Duvet Cover, $50 (Reg. $79-89) at Urban Outfitters
It’s almost the new year, which means if you’ve been feeling like re-inventing yourself, you might as well start at the place you spend most: your bed. I know my bed is my special place, my haven. I don’t feel bad spending extra money on my bed because comfy, pretty sheets are important to me. Right now, I have a bright orange duvet cover with yellow and green pillowcases (from UO), but I really like this cover, too. Bright colors are associated with positivity and happiness, and the more of them we have in our life, the better!
Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection, $39.99 (Reg. $78.92), at Amazon
The best part about the holidays was going to see the latest Harry Potter movie. It’s been a few years since the very last one came out, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop the tradition!
Deborah Lippman Big Bang Nail Polish Set, $78 ($144 value), at Sephora
This is the perfect gift for your best friend, your niece, or yourself. These winter-y colors are gorgeous, and Deborah Lippman nail polishis amazing. Un-chipped nails for at least a week and a half!
Paylan Black Wedges by Dolce Vita, $46 (Reg. $89) at Fab
These wedges are classy and fairly comfortable considering how crazy tall they are. Sometimes I prefer wedges to heels, especially if I know I’m going to be doing a lot of walking. They’re no pair of flats, but they’re not deadly either. Dolce Vita is one of my favorite shoe companies because their heels and wedges are so pretty and reasonably priced without being made of flimsy plastic.
Hoot, There It Is Skirt, $27.99 (Reg. $39.99), at Modcloth
Honestly, I had a really tough time picking something out from Modcloth because there is SO much to choose from! Their sale section is ridiculously good. I ended up choosing this skirt because it’s perfect for winter with some tights, and perfect for spring or summer because it’s such a light, pretty color with a whimsical owl theme. Plus, I just love owls.
Printed Stapler, $5 (Reg. $12.95) at Cotton On
Cotton On/Typo is a relatively new clothing/trinket store that originated in Australia. The mall near me in San Diego has one, and I’ve seen them throughout the county. Regardless of physical location, their website is having an awesome sale right now on clothes and accessories. I picked out this stapler because I’m in love with the fun floral print. And I need a new stapler.
Origo Nut Bowl Orange, $14 (Reg. $18) at Fab
If you feel like splurging on some fancy dishes, the Iittala Collection at Fab is having a huge sale. Choose from bright colors and elegant designs!
WD My Passport Ultra 1TB Portable External Hard Drive, $69.99 (Reg. $119) at Amazon
We all know laptops don’t last forever. Whether it’s the blue screen of death or an irresponsive Mac, computers tend to crash when we need them most. Always back everything up. Buying an external hard drive as a form of insurance is the best thing you could possibly do to make sure all of your files aren’t lost forever. This external hard drive on Amazon holds a lot of memory, and it’s pretty inexpensive.
