What’s the #1 misspelled word in your state?
Though spellcheck and autocorrect are two of the most helpful inventions on the planet, they don’t always have our backs. There are those days when our tired brains don’t get every single word right and we end up staring at certain phrases while wondering, “Is that really spelled like that?!” Luckily, it seems that we aren’t the only ones.
According to Good Housekeeping, Google recently took a look at the top spelling questions users are searching in every one of the 50 states. Based on the results, it seems that certain words are giving people more trouble than others. Just a few examples: desert, maintenance, vacuum, diarrhea, and even leprechaun.
Other spelling searches aren’t as relatable. Massachusetts, for instance, has trouble spelling… Massachusetts. As for Ohio, they definitely haven’t heard Gwen Stefani’s hit song “Hollaback Girl” because “banana” is the word this state gets caught up on.
