We are totally drooling over the Macaronut, a macaron-donut hybrid
June 5th is National Doughnut Day — one of the best days of the year, IMHO. Although we still have three months to wait (sob), Macaron Day is coming up on March 20th and patiserrie Francois Payard is giving us the gift of the Macaronut. What is the Macaronut, you ask? It’s a beautiful mash-up of a macaron and a donut, made of flavored strawberries and cream with a hole in the middle.
Payard organized Macaron Day in New York City back in 2010. On the day, New Yorkers can visit a participating bakery for a free macaron, and if they purchase macarons as well, a portion of the proceeds will go towards the charity City Harvest.
This year, Payard is stepping it up by introducing the Macaronut, which will look like comme ca:
Several bakeries in New York City will participate in Macaron Day, including Bouchon Bakery, Macaron, Parlour, Sugar and Plumm, and Maison du Chocolat. But if you want to get your hands on a fabulous Macaronut (and who doesn’t?), you have to visit one of the Payard locations located at 1293 3rd Ave., 116 W. Houston St., 210 Murray St., and 1775 Broadway. BRB, drooling forever.
