What Happened To Them?: The Cast of ‘Sister, Sister’

Watching reruns of Sister, Sister was part of my daily routine a few years ago before going to work. There’s something so magical about identical twins – especially twins who were adopted by different families and didn’t realize the other even existed until one magical day at the clothing store.

The series ran from April 1, 1994 to April 28, 1995 on ABC, and then was picked up by the WB, which aired new episodes until 1999. The show even had edited versions running on Disney up until 2007, so numerous generations have found a way to grow up with this show.

Both Tia and Tamera Mowry have reported to be game for a Sister, Sister movie – there’s been talk of a filmed reunion since 2011. So – what has the cast been up to since?

Tia Mowry as Tia Landry

Tia Landry was known as the “responsible” twin of the two, being more academically motivated than her sister. After the show aired, she studied at Pepperdine University, and went on to study humanities and Italian in Europe. In 2000, she had a role in the movie Seventeen Again, and appeared in the Disney Channel Original Movie Twitches alongside Tamera – and both of them reprised their roles in its sequel, Twitches Too. In July 2011, she was in a reality series with her sister called Tia & Tamera. She also had a role in the BET television series The Game, as Melanie Barnett.

In 2007, she became engaged to actor Cory Hardrict, and she gave birth to their son, Cree Taylor Hardrict, in 2011. In 2012, she wrote a book about being a working mother, called Oh, Baby: Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another. You might also see her on the cover of a few yoga DVDs that she released with yoga superstar Tara Stiles. Yet while she looks amazing, she still can’t convince me to do yoga. I mean, it gets boring for me.

Tamera Mowry as Tamera Campbell

Tamera Campbell was a bit more impulsive than Tia – the polar opposite, to be honest. In real life, Tamera continued being involved in a lot of projects with her sister (both in a career-sense and personally – she also attended Pepperdine University!) Tamera went on to star in medical drama Strong Medicine, playing Dr. Kayla Thornton.

After dating for six years, she married Fox News Correspondent Adam Housley, and the two had a son named Aden who was born in November of last year. (But here’s a fun fact – Tamera dated Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane prior to!) She’s currently a co-host on a talk show called The Real, which also features Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, and Jeannie Mai.

Tim Reid as Ray Campbell

Tim played Tamera’s single father Ray, who owned a limousine service. Being quite intellectual, Ray was a stand up guy. Since the end of the show, Tim’s had two long-standing roles – in the mid 2000’s he played William Barnett on That 70’s Show, and starting in 2010, he’s been in a few episodes of the HBO series Treme, as Judge John A. Gatling. While it didn’t last too long, he was in an episode of an ABC Family Channel comedy called Roommates, which, oddly enough, starred Tamera.

Jackée Harry as Lisa Landry

You might know her better by her first name alone. Playing Lisa, the loud and hilarious single mom of Tia, Jackée has made quite a name for herself. After the show aired, she had a recurring role as Vanessa on The CW series Everybody Hates Chris and currently has a recurring role on the BET Series Let’s Stay Together, playing Delores. In 2010, she starred in a four-part episode of Inside The Business of Acting.

And, good news for all of you 90’s sitcom fans – Jackée will be in at least the first episode of Girl Meets World, which is the sequel to Boy Meets World.

RonReaco Lee as Tyreke Scott

RonReaco played Tyreke, who was Tia’s boyfriend for the last two seasons of the show. Since being a regular during the show’s final season, RonReaco has built quite a resume of guest-starring appearances, including ER, Boston Public, The Shield, and Monk.

His acting isn’t limited just to television – in 2009, he played a lawyer named Chuck in the Tyler Perry film, Madea Goes to Jail.

Deon Richmond as Jordan Bennett

Tia wasn’t the only sister to have a steady boyfriend in the last few seasons – Deon played Jordan, Tamera’s boyfriend. One of Deon’s first roles was on The Cosby Show, playing Rudy Huxtable’s best friend “Bud”.

Like RonReaco, Deon had a few bit parts but landed a (very, very brief) steady gig in a 2006 sitcom called Teachers. The show also featured a pre-Hangover Justin Bartha as a main cast member. Sadly the show never found its footing.

Marques Houston as Roger Evans

Okay, before I continue, let me just place this picture of Marques here first.

Yes, ladies. That’s Roger Evans. That’s the Roger who pestered Tia and Tamera with his infatuation throughout the show’s run. Girls – what were you thinking?

Marques has been more focused with music recently. Early on, he was known as “Batman” and was founding member of the R&B group Immature (known better in 1999 as “IMx”) The band broke up in 2002, and Marques decided to go solo in 2003, releasing an album called MH. (He gave up the Batman thing, in case you were wondering.) His latest studio album, called Famous, was released in August of 2012.

In 2007 Houston starred in the horror film Somebody Help Me, and later starred in the sequel that was released in 2010.

Winner: With major respect towards Tia and Tamera for being pretty decent role models for us young ladies, I’m going with Marques on this one. Being a successful actor and musician (for well over ten years!) is tough work. And – you guys saw that picture, right?
